The Young Investigator - Kitsuki Investigator - Legend of Five Rings 5e

So, at this point, I am going to go ahead and create the wife for the Dragon Kitsune I created earlier. This means that there will effectively be two Kitsuki members in this band, but that's fine. I considered choosing the pure Bushi school, the Two-Heaven Adept, or the Taoist Blade Bushi/Monk, but I am going with the Kitsuki Investigator, because I find it absolutely hilarious that a member of that family and that school could be married to a kitsune and not know it.

1. What clan does your character belong to?

Dragon. The mountain dwelling philosophers.
  • Fire +1
  • Meditation +1
  • Status: 30

  • Shuji: Shallow Waters
  • School Ability: The Kitsuki Method
  • Starting Outfit: Traveling clothes, wakizashi, knife, calligraphy set, bo, traveling pack, journal of observations

4. How does your character stand-out within their school?

Adaptability, friendliness, and awareness. Water +1

5. Who is your lord and what is your character's duty to them?

The character acts as a magistrate for the lord, investigating criminal behavior and mediating disagreements.

Giri: To seek the truth.

6. What does your character long for and how might this impede their duty?

The character would simply want a peaceful life with her loving wife. She has little in the way of ambition to advance or to seek enlightenment or uncover new ways of thinking.

Ninjo: A simple family life.

7. What is your character's relationship with their clan?

The character heavily agrees with the Dragon view on Bushido, something which her wife has less adherence to. +5 Glory

8. What does your character think of Bushido?

The character follows a conventional understanding of Bushido, at least from a Dragon point of view. +10 Honor

9. What is your character's greatest accomplishment so far?

The character's greatest accomplishment was uncovering a den of smugglers by hearing the sound of someone breathing within a nearby hidden chamber. Keen Hearing.

10. What holds your character back the most in life?

Due to an injury early in her life, the character is mute. Muteness.

11. What activity makes your character feel at peace?

The activity that most soothes the character is spending quality time with their wife. Family

12. What concern, fear, or foible most troubles your character?

One that keeps her engaged in her investigations is a near compulsion towards perfectionism. Perfectionist.

13. Who has your character learned the most from in their life?

The character has learned so much from her wife, a peasant who proved clever and was adopted into the family through their marriage. However, she has a tendency to be a bit suspicious and overprotective of her wife. She trusts Mari completely, but worries that other people would take advantage of her peasant naivete. Her wife has also taught her how to accomplish things...laterally.
  • Blissful Betrothal
  • Overprotective
  • Skulduggery +1

14. What do people notice first on encountering you?

The character often has painted nails, something that she learned from her wife. The colors vary, and sometimes there are even designs. She has a collection of small vials of paint to use on her nails.

15. How does your character react to stressful situations?

When feeling stressed, her signing and other methods of communication get clipped and fast-paced, being difficult to understand.

16. What are your character's relationships with other clans, families, or traditions?

She has had some conflict with Cranes seeking to manipulate matters toward unfavorable trade deals. At least three of her last few cases have been a result of Cranes playing fast and loose with negotiations. Twice, the Crane has gotten away without consequences due to courtly influence. This has resulted in the acquisition of a gift set of ceremonial robes that she had to accept as a gift whether she wanted to or not.

17. How would your character's parents describe them?

Her parents consider her to be thoroughly unambitious, but determined to approach each task if an eye toward perfection. They see this as a mixture of pride and disappointment. Though they are at least happy that her wife has encouraged learning some arts. Composition +1.

18. Who was your character named to honor?

She was named for an ancestor of Imperial Heritage.  Status +10, Blessed Lineage

19. What is your character's personal name?

Yugozohime

20. How should your character die?

She should die defending her wife or else learning her wife is a kitsune and rejecting her resulting in the kitsune's death and then a regret-filled suicide.
