5e White Dragon Descended Sailor

This theoretical build is based on a character currently being played by DPRagan.(warning: his gallery contains quite a bit of NSFW content) A human who was changed into a sorceress when she was forced to be a canary, triggering traps ahead of them, for a group of evil adventurers. One of the traps she triggered imbued her with the essence of the copper dragon whose lair the adventurers were invading and made her a sorceress.

The source character was a copper dragon descendant and I think I'll go with a different type of dragon. I'm often partial to good, or at least not-actively evil, black and white dragons due to encountering some in fiction and gaming. I think I will go with a white descendant at this time, but I will stay with the human race. I think this character will be a sailor that was one of several rounded up and used as fodder in getting through a dragon's lair. The white dragon in question is rather a lazy beast that isn't particular good or evil in action that serves as something of tourist attraction for the large town nearby (it gets a decent percentage of profits).

Sorcerers are very useful for tweaking into specific themes.



As normal it is a, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10 array. I am also using the alternate human.

Reasoning: I considered taking Chromatic Orb because it is more elemental damage, but it requires a 50 gp diamond in order to cast, and I don't see a 1st level character having that resource. In addition, this character is going to have a lot of illusion ability.

Reasoning: I do plan to take some more weather related magic. Actually, I imagine that a lot of the higher level spells won't fit into the concept, but when something ice-related shows up, I'm taking it. Thankfully 5e spellcasters don't need 9th level to be effective since the Save DC is unconnected to the Spell Level and many spells are more effective when cast through higher level slots.

Reasoning: A lot of cold related spells opened up in these levels, but we also added a good illusion spell, and a couple of useful utility spells. I considered Protection from Energy, but that basically gives resistance and she already has that. Given her concentration is mostly going to be on illusions, the buffing of others would get in the way of her primary focus. Invisibility was chosen over Greater Invisibility for the greater duration.

Reasoning: I am well aware that this character is getting access to 6th and greater level spells, but they're not to theme. Those higher level spell slots can be converted to Sorcery Points or used to cast some spells at higher effect. She doesn't have many spells that benefit from higher slots, but some still do. She is still focused on weather and illusion spells. Also, note that Wall of Ice is not available to sorcerers.
