Background: Mel's worked out at the alligator farm for years, since they were a child. Sometime back, a monster had appeared outside of town though few people know about it because it was defeated so very quickly. Mel's mother, Layla Tadros, tells how her husband had been killed by it, a monster thing like a panther formed of the mud of the bog. She had gone out to kill it armed with fire to dry it out and explosives to blow it apart, and firearms for if things got desperate. She gave a good fight but would likely have been the second victim if a protective but brutal man hadn't appeared to tear the monster apart.
