The Fox of the Dragon - Kitsune Impersonator - Legend of the Five Rings 5e

The Kitsune Impersonator is a school available to players via the Emerald Empire sourcebook. I thought it would be a member of the Kitsune family, but instead it is an actual kitsune, fox spirit. You choose your family and clan as normal, but this is a false identity. Kitsune are neutral or benevolent in nature and sometimes hang around for various reasons, including marrying mortals. The kitsune gets fewer skills and less choice in technique than other schools, but has really useful school abilities. It is important to note that in the lore of this setting, children born of a kitsune and mortal are mortal. There are several families that have intermarried frequently with spirits.

She serves a Kitsuki lord and serves as a priest and performer of rituals.

Giri:  To serve as a court priest.

6. What does your character long for and how might this impede their duty?

As a kitsune, she is a little bit whimsical and is mostly concerned with her friends and loved ones among mortals rather than the empire as a whole.

Ninjo: To protect her loved ones.

7. What is your character's relationship with their clan?

She diverges quite severely from the Dragon in that as a kitsune she really doesn't care much for Sincerity which is the prime concern of the Dragon. She has 1 rank of Skulduggery.

8. What does your character think of Bushido?

She is a benevolent spirit and agrees with and respects Bushido. +10 Honor.

9. What is your character's greatest accomplishment so far?

She has married her way into the family of one of some of the greatest investigators without being revealed for what she is. Blissful Bethrothal.

10. What holds your character back the most in life?

As part of her ruse, she has played the role of a common girl who married into the clan after proving her worth and value. She has the Adopted Peasant Disadvantage. And while it is a false identity, it is still the reputation that affects her.

11. What activity makes your character feel at peace?

The kitsune is insatiably curious about all things. Curiosity.

12. What concern, fear, or foible most troubles your character?

Quite clearly, the main issue that concerns the character is her False Identity.

13. Who has your character learned the most from in their life?

She has learned the most from her wife, a Kitsuki Investigator who has not yet seemed to realize she's a fox spirit and has taught her much of what it means to be a samurai and how to read people. However, her wife has often let her get along without needing to do much labor and it has made her physical weak.

The first thing they notice on seeing her, is her wide smile and sparkling eyes. Sometimes it seems as if her smile is impossibly broad. She has beautiful necklace gifted to her by her wife.

15. How does your character react to stressful situations?

Her body language is often a clear sign of her emotional state. She reacts like a fox would in many ways.

She is distrustful of Kuni and their inquisitorial practices. Toward that end, she has acquired a unique omamori that helps hide her from the probing spells of other mystics.

Her adoptive parents describe her as a clever and precocious peasant girl. Courtesy +1
