Danger Looms Large - Caress Melani's Journal - Sessions 18 & 19

To the Point of Exhaustion

It was a moment before Caress realized that the windows in the room were actually arrow slits. She looked about at the masterwork weapons around the room and the walls which Lyra had said were enchanted to disappear at a command. Tomorrow, this giant's castle was set to rise up into the sky and fly off to some unknown distant location at the behest of the cult leaders that had taken up residence here.

"Let's tally the opposition we have here," Ravyn suggested. "The cultists..."

"...the Red Wizards in the room next to ours..."

"...the mercenaries the cultists hired..."

"...the kobolds in the kitchen..."

"...that rather strangely too intelligent griffin..."

"...the army of ogres..."

 "...the cloud giant..."

"...and Glazhael in the tombs underneath the castle."

"We don't have too much time to act before this castle leaves," Mythram said. "And when that happens we'll be committed."

"We'll have to ride out the trip, or take over the castle and I would note that the idea of having a flying castle to operate out of is not a terrible idea."

"Blagothkus only seems to tolerate the cultists in hopes of eventually fighting Tiamat," Caress said.

"Seems a reasonable motive."

"Perhaps we can use this to turn the residents here against each other."

"Similar to how we played upon Talis's assumption we were servants of other Wormspeakers to learn about this place," Mythram agreed.

"I would definitely appreciate option that has us taking this castle without having to fight every person inside it," Lyra commented. "but also, we'll likely have to fight all these people eventually anyway."

"It does feel like a collection of villains bent on domination and carnage," Caress agreed. "But hopefully we don't simply alert the entire building in one action this time. At the very least I'm not a clanky walking alarm any longer."
